I have followed Allan’s work for several years now. His work has explored several meaningful topics from embracing body positivity to the celebration of communities of color and diaspora. The careful study of watercolor and acrylic medium is often ofull display in his art.

His ability to capture joy, give voice to issues and express the beautiful parts of his cultural background are what keep me returning to his collections.

Beautiful pieces by Allan adorn walls throughout my house. I have a drawing of my two children that he created hanging in my hallway, creative and fun interpretive art based on my kids’ childhood drawings, a canvas of his interesting and cultural shoes-in-the-foyer piece, and a print of his incredible drawing of the Sagrada Familia.

His talent has blown me away that entire time. I love his eye, the way he interprets what he sees, and his style.

Allan was amazing! Its my first time doing something like this - ordering online - so I had some reservations, but the entire process was simple and effortless. Allan kept me in the loop in terms of timing, sent me drafts for approval before shipping off the final products - and they were being shipped to two different countries! He sent me the tracking numbers and followed up on delivery.

The end result - wow! He is super talented & I look forward to working with him again.

Hello! I'm Allan.

and I want you to have a free print

from my "Echoes of the Pacific" Collection.

Here's why 👇

Every Saturday morning when I was growing up, our home would fill with the scent of garlic fried rice and scrambled eggs. That fragrance would pull me out of bed and Iead me straight to the kitchen.

You could hear the sizzle of mom's cooking,

and that sound,

it just felt like weekend mornings,

like family tradition.

We had a beaded curtain, made with seashells and wooden beads that guarded the entry to our dining area.

The sun would be coming up and cast playful shadows on the wall. I’d always run my fingers along the bead strands and it was like I could feel a connection to a deeper part of my heritage...

Like an invisible thread that tied me to something far older than myself.

And then...

There was the giant wooden spoon and fork hanging on the wall.

I’d gaze at them as I ate my breakfast. They were cartoonishly oversized - which made me laugh.

But they were more than just decorations. They were symbols of luck, health, and prosperity...

Like protectors of our home.

That whole scene is pure nostalgia for me.

Growing up in Guam as a Filipino American, it’s like a snapshot of comfort and safety.

But when I think about it now, there’s also this quiet sadness that comes with it.

Those utensils on the wall remind me of something we lost along the way.

My ancestors used to eat with their hands, but when the Spanish came, they called that “barbaric” and made it seem improper.

Over time, families like ours started using forks and spoons, and it changed the way we ate and, in a way...

How we connected to our culture.

That mix of comfort and loss is what actually got me into painting this collection.

I wanted to capture those little moments...

The smell of the food,

Eating with our hands,

The feel of the beads,

The sound of cooking,

The pile of slippers at the door.

I wanted to hold onto that feeling of home, that deep connection to my heritage, while also acknowledging how things have changed.

Each painting has become a reminder of where we’ve come from, what we’ve lost, and what we still carry with us.

It’s my way of keeping our traditions alive, honoring our past, and celebrating my culture and the echoes of the Pacific.

The "Echoes of the Pacific" Collection

The "Echoes of the Pacific" collection is inspired by the intersection of American Pacific Islander (AAPI) culture, history, and identity, reflecting my perspective as someone born to Filipino parents on the island of Guam. It poses questions about the elements—such as foods, items, and customs—that root us in our heritage, while also examining how colonization has altered these traditions. The collection also challenges common misconceptions about our cultures.

The original pieces were painted with acrylic on textured canvas.

Love this painting. Proud to own a piece of history beautifully captured by Allan. Packaging was done with care and professionalism, ensuring the painting arrived in perfect condition. I would recommend his work for anyone looking for exceptional art.

This painting is EPIC. Sometimes, when you get a portrait it is close but doesn't truly capture the essence. This is not the case for the painting Allan did of my two dogs. Their spirits came through and I have no idea how he did it. It is perfect and I love it so much!!!!

Samantha

Tacoma, Washington

Ordered one of these as a gift for a family member. The end result was even better than I expected and the recipient was delighted. They make the perfect gift - very personal, no packing/shipping hassle.

You can't beat that!

Angela

I ordered this print and received it in record time. It was well packaged and it arrived in

pristine condition.

I am excited to get this beautiful print framed and hung!!

Sue

Beautiful, reasonably priced print that shipped very quickly.

The seller also noticed that I live in Boston and sent me a bonus print from a spot in my neighborhood - how nice of him! Definitely recommended.

Alex

Not only did it arrive in good time and quality, Allan added some additional prints due to a sale starting just a day after my purchase. They go wonderfully together in a set of made-for-them box frames I found. Love them.

About Allan

Allan Carandang is an artist, formally trained in architectural and experiential graphic design. He works with various media including watercolor, acrylic and wax encaustic.

He has lived in Guam, San Diego, and Santa Cruz, and now calls the Pacific Northwest his home. Allan began his fine art career as a watercolorist, painting subjects ranging from urban scenes to natural landscapes to the human figure.

“The lens I see the world through is one of a first-generation Filipino immigrant raised on the island of Guam, living in the Greater Seattle area for over 25 years. Art-making for me is a way to express diverse opinions, about the Filipino-American experience, AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) gay subculture, and pre-and post-colonial history of the Philippines.

Along this creative journey, I have been reflecting on the practice of decolonization and connection to ‘Kapwa’ (a shared Filipino identity). It is important to me that my artwork provides representation and acknowledgement to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) and LGBTQIA+ communities, honors my ancestors, and opens space for future generations.”
